How Do I Become A Christian?

Very simply a Christian is a person who has decided to follow Jesus Christ with their whole lives. If you have never committed to doing this, please really consider doing so. The Bible says that "now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2b).

Consider taking the following steps to commit your life to God:

Admit. Admit that you have done wrong (the Bible calls this sin) and that you need God (Romans 3:23-26).

Believe. Believe that God was born to us in the flesh through Jesus Christ. Believe that it is possible to have a relationship with God because Jesus died for our sins and rose again from the dead (John 3:16-17, John 14:6, Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9-10).

Confess. Confess your sin to God and accept his forgiveness and healing (1 John 1:8-9, Isaiah 53:4-5). Every one of us chooses to live our lives as we want, as we engage in sinful, broken and destructive behaviors - things which ultimately alienate us from God. As we confess our need of God to him, and own up to our sin, God's forgiveness and healing can take place in our lives.

Dedicate. Dedicate yourself completely to following Jesus Christ (which means to make him the President or the Lord of your life). Receiving God’s gift of forgiveness through Jesus will set you in a new direction because now you’re following Christ (Romans 10:9; Luke 9:23).

Express. Express your faith in Christ publicly. This may be difficult to do, but ask God to help you do this (Matthew 10:32-33; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8, Romans 10:9-10).

Find. Find other followers of Jesus at a Christian church near you, who can encourage you and walk with you in your new spiritual journey (Hebrews 10:24-25).
