Extravagant Generosity

During the building of the tabernacle, the Israelites were inspirational in their giving of Time, Talent and Treasure. In fact Moses had to tell the people to stop giving because they were giving too much! (Exodus 35:4-35; 36:1-7). We see similar extravagant investments of generosity to God and neighbor by others in Scripture also, even when they were poor (Mark 12:41-44; 2 Corinthians 8:1-7). As stewards of God’s resources, the Lord expects us to use what he has given to us (time, talent and treasure) for his purposes. Paul instructs us to “excel in [the] grace of giving" (2 Corinthians 8:7).
